Lisa Marie, EditorEditor's Letter

You’re engaged and ready to start planning. Good for you! What you’ve heard is absolutely true: The Coachella Valley is an ideal place to get married. The air is fresh, the views outstanding, and the weather second to none. Whether you grew up here or chose your big day for your first visit, the desert is filled with locales and vendors who are ready to make your occasion memorable, beautiful, and uniquely yours. (And if you think I’m saying that only because I’m the editor, think again. I am planning my own wedding here next year!)

For such a reasonably sized region, the cities of the Coachella Valley offer a variety of locations to host your wedding and reception. From mountaintops to golf courses, intimate restaurants to grand resorts, old Hollywood glamour to a modern aesthetic and everything in between, you will find a special place here that will thrill your family, wow your guests, and make for an album of gorgeous wedding photos.

The Coachella Valley has long been a destination for brides looking to host a sunny outdoor wedding. Three hundred and fifty-some days of sun a year makes it relatively easy to count on! (Though you should always have a backup plan just in case.) See our Happy Couples story to read about brides’ favorite memories from their weddings at some of the desert’s most desirable wedding venues. (Then, glean some ideas on where to host your own from our locations story Wedding Settings.)

Palm Springs International Airport makes it a breeze for guests to fly into town. And because our easy-to-navigate valley is filled with top-notch restaurants, cultural attractions, and world-class accommodations, guests can easily turn your wedding weekend into their own mini-vacation. Earlier this year, The New York Times ran an inspiring story on why Palm Springs remains hot and happening. Plenty of couples who wed here decide to stay on and relax for a few days before running off on their honeymoon. Others get so comfortable, they honeymoon here, too.

As far as what’s new for desert weddings, turn to our trend alert story Trends To Wed By for a glimpse at some new ideas for favors, flowers, invitations, and more. Or, feel free to start your own trends and traditions.

Planning a wedding can, of course, become stressful — even in a place as decidedly relaxing as this. So, let this planner be your trusty guide to the best the desert has to offer. And between all that planning, be sure to schedule plenty of soothing spa treatments, energizing walks around town, and lazy afternoons by the pool.

Congratulations & best wishes,

~ Lisa Marie
